«Rinascimento» is the journal of the Istituto Nazionale di Studi sul Rinascimento and is published by Leo S. Olschki in Florence. Formerly entitled «La Rinascita» from 1938 to 1949, it assumed its current title in 1950 issuing an annual volume.
«Rinascimento» has a particularly multidisciplinary vocation. Guided by a high profile scientific committee, it is graded ‘A’ according to the ANVUR classification, and promotes research concerning humanistic and Renaissance culture understood in a broad sense. Articles are published subsequent to having passed a double blind peer review.
The journal is organized into five sections: «Saggi e testimonianze, «Studi e testi», «Note e varietà», «Rassegne» e «Discussioni». The first section is composed of comprehensive studies dedicated to single authors or important themes. In the second section are located formerly unedited or rare texts of pertinent interest to the understanding of humanistic and Renaissance tradition. The contributions of the third section address, with a critical approach but with a more general view, themes of a specific type. The fourth section presents surveys offering an updated panorama of critical and historiographic research on the major authors of Humanism and the Renaissance. The final section is dedicated to the most original perspectives and the most lively aspects of current debate in the field of Renaissance studies.
